One of our more interesting incidents involved a construction company’s 75 ton Caterpillar D-10 bulldozer that was being transported south on Interstate 5. The D-10 hit the Lyons Avenue over pass and was knocked off the low bed trailer, ending up on its side, blocking traffic. The Heavy Equipment Unit responded with 2 45 ton fire dozers, equipped with heavy duty winches. The 2 fire dozers were unloaded on the freeway, winch lines attached and the D-10 was righted. All the dozers were loaded back on their transports, the D-10 continued on his way and the 2 fire dozers responded to a brush fire. Just another busy day for Heavy Equipment.
