The Fire Alarm Unit performs plan review services on occupancies requiring a fire alarm system. The Unit interfaces with alarm companies that provide design work for projects within the Los Angeles County area. They review and approve all types of fire alarm systems including: sprinkler monitoring, manual alarm, electronic detection and clean agent extinguishing systems. The Unit is responsible for researching various methods of code compliance, and verifying that the appropriate design methods are used for these systems. Included in the review process is the verification of voltage drop calculations, battery calculations, and conduit fill and device location. The Fire Alarm Unit also performs field surveys to confirm the accuracy of an existing system and assists with inspections and testing of complex alarm systems.
