The Regional Fire Prevention Units are located throughout the County of Los Angeles serving all 57 cities and unincorporated areas throughout the County. Unit offices are staffed with Fire Prevention Engineering Assistants for plans review, fire and field inspections. The Units are supervised by a Fire Captain.

The Regional FP Units approve and inspect new construction including single family dwellings. Our Inspectors are responsible for the following:

  • Public assembly occupancies, (except churches) with 300 or more occupants.
  • Manufacturing and other occupancies storing and handling large quantities of highly flammable or combustible materials.
  • Manufacturing occupancies over 20,000 sq. ft.
  • Storage and warehouse occupancies over 60,000 sq. ft.
  • Unincorporated business license requiring a public hearing.
