The Photo Unit is primarily responsible for providing many different types of photography, including public information, incident photos, digital imaging, portraits, aerials, studio lighting, darkroom work, training on the use of photographic equipment, and revolving calendar of special events and ceremonial coverage (firefighter graduations, promotional ceremonies, service recognition, special events, and other requests). The unit also maintains contact with the Department’s group of volunteer photographers and coordinates incident photos. The photo Unit recently transitioned to a digital photography work environment and has acquired several new pieces of equipment, including digital cameras, computer equipment, starting of a digital library and photo enhancement software. The unit is able to produce images faster as a finished product and also to enhance photos to meet the diversity of the photographic needs. |
