Fire Station 64 - In Action

Approximately 80 years ago when the County of Los Angeles first formed the forestry and fire warden district, the primary mission of our department was to combat and prevent fires. Today, actual firefighting accounts for only about four percent of the total emergency calls we receive each year. In fact, more than 80 percent of all the calls we receive are emergency medical calls, which involve anything from minor traffic accidents, to heart attacks, or even major rescue operations where people are trapped.

Today, the Los Angeles County Fire Department has grown in response to the population and the diverse needs of the citizens we serve. From the land, the air or the water, the Los Angeles County Fire Department is ready for action. With numerous specialized units, the Los Angeles County Fire Department is capable of responding to everything from the smallest animal rescue to a major terrorist incident in the region.

From our front line firefighters, to our specialized and highly trained experts, this section is dedicated to those men and women who place their lives on the line each and every day to maintain the public’s safety, rescue them from harm, and provide a calming voice when disaster strikes.
