8. What does my child need to participate in Junior Guards?

For the pool swim tryout:

lightweight racing style swim suit (aka speedos because baggy suits make for slow times), cap (get that hair out of your eyes), goggles (today is not the day to test a new pair), and a towel (big, fluffy, and lucky is best).

For summer program days:

uniform (provided), towel, sunscreen, hat, water

11.  How early do we need to be at the swim try-out to be assured my child we be able to register at the beach of his/her choice?

Due to popularity and limited program capacity, some beach sessions fill up quickly.  Sometimes they fill up on or even before the first pool try-out.  If you are a new applicant and desire a spot in a potentially impacted program, we recommend arriving during the lottery hour which begins an hour and a half before the beginning of the test.  It ends a half hour before the test starts, so we can set up.  Your child will be given a numbered wristband, randomly chosen, which will determine his place in line.  If you arrive after the wristband lottery is completed, you swim after those with wristbands.  There will be not overnight camping allowed.
