NEW APPLICANT REGISTRATION
All new applicants must tryout and pass one of the three timed 100-yard pool swim tests given by LA County Junior Lifeguard Office. Time limit for the C's (9-11 year olds) is 1:50 or less. For B's (12-13 years old) is 1:40 or less, and the A's is (14-17 year olds) is 1:30or less. The registration process and fee payment takes place after the swim tryout. No pre- registration is required; come to the swim test, fill out an application, and pay. Additionally, a photocopy of your child's Birth Certificate must be provided with your application to complete your registration. For information on various Swim prep classes, click here. RETURNING JUNIOR GUARD REGISTRATION
Returning JG's need to register by April 1st, 2006. The 2006 Returning JG application is not available for download, but will be mailed to all returning Junior Guards by mid-February. En Espanol. Please check back at a later date.
PROGRAM FEE
The fee for the summer of 2006 is $386.00. The fee includes: tuition, uniform, and membership in the United States Lifesaving Association.

RFUND POLICY
Refunds are offered up to the end of the first week of the program ( July 12th for Summer 2006). All requests must be made in writing. Send them to: JG Program Office, Refund Request, 2600 Strand, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 The uniform cost and USLA membership fee are not refundable.
LOCATIONS
When enrollment warrants, classes will be held at: Avalon, Cabrillo, Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan, El Segundo, Venice, Santa Monica, Will Rogers, and Zuma.
TRANSPORTATION
Free bus transportation to and from many inland locations is available for the Santa Monica, Venice, Will Rogers, and Zuma programs. Call (310) 305-9587 for information.
TIMES
There are two sessions. The AM session is 8:30-11:30 and the PM session is 1:30-4:30. You may only sign up for one session.
CLASS SIZE
Class size varies per beach, but averages about 32 students per instructor. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. When a class is full, registration for that class will be closed. Waiting lists are generated for closed classes; please inquire during registration.
AGE GROUPS
JG's classes are divided based on the child's age as of July 1, 2006. C's are 9-11 years old, B's are 12-13 years old, and the A's are 14-17 years old. A photocopy of the child's birth certificate must be provided with the application during registration.
UNIFORMS
Uniforms are included with the program fee. Boys receive a white t-shirt and blue trunks. Girls receive a white t-shirt and blue swim suit. Additional trunks and t-shirts, as well as sun hats, are available for purchase from the LA County Fire Dept. In addition, the LA County Lifeguard Association sells Junior Lifeguard sweatshirts, rash guards, and other articles as a fundraiser for the Lifeguard National Team. Unfortunately, girls swim suits are not available for purchase; additional navy blue one piece swim suits can be purchased at the retailer of your choice.
