The Training Services Section is responsible for training all new firefighters and conducting ongoing in-service training sessions for all members. Training Services develops training materials, organizes classes and training programs for recruits and refresher courses for other Departmental personnel. Its core training staff of six fire captains, one fire fighter specialist, a curriculum developer and five student workers, develop and present a comprehensive training program for all levels of personnel. To support and deliver its services, the Training Section operates four training facilities, including the Cecil R. Gehr Combat Training Center at Fire Department headquarters; the Del Valle Regional Emergency Training Center, located in the community of Castaic in the North Region Operations Bureau; the East County Training Center, located at Fire Station 187 in the East Region Operations Bureau city of Pomona; and the North County Regional Training Center, located at Fire Station 129 in the City of Lancaster. Training Services Section is also celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Cecil R. Gehr Training Center as the core training site to prepare men and women to become proud protectors of life and property. |
