The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Lifeguard Division is preparing for another busy summer and recently purchased five new rescue watercrafts to support its daily operations.

The new watercrafts will provide better visibility for lifeguards and assist with patient floatation.  To prepare for the safety of thousands of beachgoers this season, lifeguards will complete extensive training to become qualified operators and maintain their skills by monthly continued education sessions.

In the next few weeks, the rescue watercrafts will be placed strategically throughout Los Angeles County beaches and the Santa Monica Bay.

As always, the LACoFD reminds beachgoers to swim in front of an open lifeguard tower, check-in with lifeguards for ocean conditions and hazards, and swim, surf, and bodyboard within your abilities.
