On Thursday, August 25, 2022. the Pomona Optimist Club honored Fire Utility Driver Santos Luna with its annual Public Safety Award.

Nominated by Assistant Fire Chief Jesse Vela, Battalion 15 chiefs, and Battalion 15 firefighters, Luna was recognized for his unwavering commitment, strong work ethic, and can-do attitude in supporting the day-to-day operations of Division 8.

The Respect for Public Safety Dinner was held at the Metro Ale House in the City of Pomona.  Along with his family and dozens of Department members, guests also included the offices of elected officials and local community leaders.

Pomona Police Department Detective Fernando Flores was another recipient of this year’s Public Safety Award for law enforcement.

Acting Deputy Fire Chief Mike Inman, Acting Assistant Fire Chief Richard Stillwagon, and Battalion Chief Tony Buzzerio praised Luna for exemplifying the Department’s core values and his constant support to Battalion 15 firefighters.
