On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Fighter (FF) Erin Regan was presented with the prestigious Pat Tillman Award for Service at the annual 2025 ESPN Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards.

The award is named after Pat Tillman, a former National Football League (NFL) player who left his career to enlist and become a United States Army Ranger after the September 11 attacks. It is awarded to individuals with a deep tie to sports that exemplify a similar spirit of service and leadership.

Prior to joining the LACoFD, FF Regan set several records as an all-star soccer college athlete and helped win the Women’s United Soccer Association Founders Cup as a professional and paid soccer athlete. After joining the LACoFD, FF Regan along with her Women’s Fire League colleagues helped to establish the Girls’ Fire Camp and Women’s Fire Prep Academy to expose interested participants to fire service career opportunities.

FF Regan received the Pat Tilman Award for Service jointly with Los Angeles Fire Department FF David Walters, an Olympic gold medalist. Both FF Regan and FF Walters were recognized for their efforts in battling the devastating January 2025 wildfires.

The LACoFD congratulates FFs Regan and Walters for this honor and recognition!
