On Saturday, October 28, 2023, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Explorers Pasha Khanlou and Joseph Williams Jr., assigned to the Fire Station 58 Post, successfully passed their evaluation of skills and physical test, earning the position of “Certified Explorer.”
Over the past 12 months, LACoFD Explorers Khanlou and Williams Jr. diligently worked to complete their Task Book which included fire station familiarization, apparatus familiarization, hose and hardware, hose lays, self-contained breathing apparatus, ladders, ropes and knots, fireground operations, emergency medical services, truck operations, and wildland operations.
LACoFD Explorers Khanlou and Williams Jr. successfully completed the 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team and eight-hour cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, participated in the annual Explorer drill, and volunteered at numerous Department and community events.
In addition to earning their “Certified” patch, LACoFD Explorers Khanlou and Williams Jr. will receive additional personal protective equipment (i.e., turnout pants, turnout coat, turnout boots, and firefighter gloves) and can participate in 12-hour ride-alongs outside of their assigned division.
