Tonner Canyon Prescribed Burn 1024 682 Colton Lucas

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) conducted a successful two-day prescribed burn in Tonner Canyon on June 5 and June 6, 2025.

A collaborative effort between the LACoFD, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), the operation resulted in 36 acres burned. This section of Tonner Canyon is part of a larger 350-acre project to make the area more fire-resistant.

The burn was part of the ongoing efforts to improve ecosystem health, reduce wildfire risk, and improve public safety through proactive vegetation management. Prior to the operation, the area was identified as high-risk.

Identified as a high-risk wildfire area, firefighters and camp crews utilized hand-ignition techniques, as well as broadcast and pile burning to clear the 36 acres located northwest of Tonner Canyon Motorway, below Diamond Ridge Estates and The Country Estates in the City of Diamond Bar.

The Department extends its deepest appreciation to all LACoFD, CAL FIRE, and OCFA personnel who participated in the prescribed burn.
