On Monday, March 24, 2025, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Health Hazardous Materials Division (HHMD) participated in the 27th California Unified Program Annual Training Conference themed “Embracing Change and Encouraging Collaboration” in Anaheim, California.

Drawing in 2,000 regulators and industry representatives, a large contingent of HHMD personnel not only attended, but also shared their expertise and contributions at this premier conference and training event.

In addition to HHMD personnel providing instruction for six of the training sessions, Division Chief Mario Tresierras served as one of the conference co-chairs. And modeling the expectation for teamwork and self-care, HHMD Assistant Chief Jeff Holwager and team earned first place in the pre-conference golf tournament.

The HHMD has maintained a long-standing commitment to this conference, with staff attending for the past 27 years.  Notably, retired HHMD Chief Bill Jones was a founding member of this event which has grown to become one of the industry’s most sought-after annual training conferences.
