The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) is delighted to share the four Explorers below were recently awarded $1,000 scholarships through LARotary5 for their hard work and dedication to the Fire Explorer Program and serving the community.

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) is proud to share four explorers were recently awarded scholarships from the Rotery Club of Los Angeles, known as “LARotary5”.

1. Explorer Ayetzza Velasquez (Fire Station 32)
2. Explorer Rickey Jackson (Fire Station 28)
3. Explorer Asif Simat (Fire Station 58)
4. Explorer Joseph Williams (Fire Station 58)

These hardworking explorers were each awarded $1,000 scholarships in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the LACoFD Explorer Program as well as their exemplary service performed in their communities. A formal recognition will take place at a later date to honor the remarkable achievements of these Explorers.

Through the Explorer Program, youth gain valuable hands-on experience and training in various aspects of firefighting and emergency services, develop essential-leadership skills, and promote community service and civic engagement.

The LACoFD congratulates Explorers Velasquez, Jackson, Simat, and Williams for this exceptional accomplishment!
