Urban Search and Rescue Full-Scale Training Exercise 1024 682 Isidro Armenta

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LACoFD) California Task Force 2 (CA-TF2) and International urban search and rescue team (USA-02) conducted a full-scale exercise (FSE) from October 14, through October 17, 2025, with partners from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, Office of International Disaster Response.

The 72-hour exercise was designed to ensure that the LACoFD’s USAR team remains ready at a moment’s notice to deploy to both domestic and international disasters.  This FSE took the team through all stages of a deployment, testing their operational readiness, and ability to adapt under realistic conditions.

Throughout the FSE, the team encountered a variety of challenging scenarios that required the use of multiple tools and specialized equipment to meet their objectives.  Ten members from USA-01 Fairfax County, Virginia were embedded with the LACoFD team as part of our continued efforts to strengthen partnerships with our east coast counterparts.  In addition, visitors from Japan and Taiwan observed the FSE as we continue to build international relationships.
