On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) and Lifeguard Division participated in the 18th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival in Los Angeles.

The ODEI and Lifeguard Division provided information about the various career pathways and youth programs available in the Department along with flyers that highlighted important seasonal-safety tips. Event goers received fire-safety giveaways while visiting the Department’s booth in the festival’s County Pavillion.

County of Los Angeles Second District Supervisor, Holly Mitchell, the Department of Human Resources Director of Personnel, Lisa Garrett, LACoFD Acting Deputy Fire Chiefs Robert Harris and William Mayfield, Jr., and Fire Station 58 also took part in the festivities.

Located on Crenshaw Boulevard between Obama Boulevard and Stocker Avenue, this annual festival is the largest free family festival in Southern California and attracts nearly 350,000 attendees each year.

The all-day event featured live performances and entertainment, job and networking opportunities, a kids play area, free health testing, and local food vendors.
