The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) is proud to participate in the annual observance of “National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week,” celebrated April 14 to April 19, 2024, to recognize the contributions of the LACoFD’s Command and Control Division (CCD) members.

LACoFD telecommunicators are comprised of a diverse team of dispatchers and other professionals in the CCD who play a vital role in the Department’s day-to-day emergency operations and fulfilling the mission of protecting lives, property, and the environment.

These dedicated members showcase exceptional accuracy and timeliness in 9-1-1 communications while serving as a critical bridge between those in need and the effective response by our first responders.  They navigate high-pressure situations, provide lifesaving instructions, and perform seamlessly in stressful situations.

The LACoFD’s 9-1-1 Communications Center is one of the busiest dispatch centers in the U.S.  In 2023, LACoFD dispatchers answered and dispatched over 449,000 9-1-1 calls, for a daily average of over 1,200 responses per day. They are an integral part of the LACoFD workforce.

This year, the CCD has prioritized the importance of enhancing awareness regarding the challenges and demands experienced by our dispatchers.  All LACoFD personnel are invited and encouraged to participate in “Sit-In” observations by using the QR code below:

The LACoFD expresses its deepest gratitude to our CCD dispatch professionals for their unwavering commitment to assisting individuals during times of distress, by being resilient and bringing comfort to those in need during a crisis, and furthermore, reassuring individuals that help is on the way when it matters the most.
