Beach Safety Days

Empowering communities with ocean safety skills while introducing pathways to lifeguarding careers.

What are Beach Safety Days?

Beach Safety Days are free community events hosted by
the County of Los Angeles Fire Department Lifeguard Division, and are dedicated to promoting water safety, environmental stewardship, and ocean awareness.  Whether you are a seasoned beachgoer or visiting the ocean for the first time, Beach Safety Days offer a lifeguard-led, hands-on learning experience designed to empower participants with essential ocean safety skills.

Our Beach Safety Days take place on select Saturdays for a duration of four weeks and focus on these key elements:

  • Teaching participants how to navigate
    different ocean conditions.

  • Providing water safety instruction and
    drowning prevention education.

  • Showcasing lifesaving techniques through
    interactive demonstrations.

  • Promoting environmental awareness and
    sustainability.

  • Strengthening connections between the
    community and ocean safety professionals.

Participants may also learn:

  • Basic first aid and rescue board techniques.

  • How to swim around a buoy with confidence.

  • About career opportunities as a
    Los Angeles County Lifeguard.

  • Additional programs provided by
    the Lifeguard Division.

Beach Safety Days welcomes and offers
individuals, ages nine and up, valuable resources
to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at the beach.
