The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) urban search and rescue (USAR) canine (K9) Bond was featured in a recent episode of County Critters on the Job.

LACoFD K9 “Bond,” a six-year-old Labrador Retriever, specializes in victim search and rescue operations and recently completed his first international assignment with California Task Force 2 (CA-TF2) searching for victims in the 2023 Türkiye-Syria earthquake.

During the feature, LACoFD Deputy Fire Chief Robert Harris and Fire Fighter Paul Hilsabeck provided commentary and underscored the benefits of the USAR K9 program. Chief Harris said, “Our number one asset that we utilize is K9’s…” and, “They are an invaluable resource to help us find victims that are trapped in collapsed structures.
