County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Health Hazardous Materials Division (HHMD) Chief Mario Tresierras held an annual Division meeting on February 12, 2026, to provide Department updates and thank the entire team for their continuous efforts.
The mission of the LACoFD HHMD is to protect public health and the environment throughout Los Angeles County from accidental releases and improper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste through coordinated efforts of inspections, enforcement, site mitigation oversight, and emergency response.
As part of the annual meeting, Chief Tresierras was joined by Business Operations Chief Deputy Theresa Barrera and Community Risk Reduction Bureau Deputy Fire Chief Al Yanagisawa to recognize four HHMD employees retiring, who collectively have more than 120 years of combined Los Angeles service:

· Assistant Chief, Health Hazardous Materials, Teresa Quiaoit
· Supervising Hazardous Materials Specialist Fariba Khaledan
· Senior Secretary III Lettie Jaramillo
