CPR Training for Explorers 150 150 Colton Lucas

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) congratulates members of the Explorer Program for successfully completing the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training on February 21, 2026, held at the LACoFD Cecil Gehr Training Center in the unincorporated area of East Los Angeles.

A total of 92 Explorers were trained by a cadre of highly experienced Training and Emergency Medical Services Bureau nurse educators who shared their expertise and real-world insights with the participants. Each explorer achieved a CPR certification at the culmination of the one-day training.

During the training session, Explorers actively engaged in the CPR curriculum which included distinguishing the difference between heart attacks and cardiac arrests, administering chest compressions, assessing responsiveness, and utilizing life-saving equipment like the automatic external defibrillator (AED).

The LACoFD extends its heartfelt appreciation to the exemplary cadre of EMS nurse educators for their exceptional leadership and dedication, and to the Explorers for committing their time to learning essential life-saving skills and knowledge that will enable them to better serve their communities.
