During the month of September 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) participated in events throughout Los Angeles County in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
In celebrating this month, from September 15, through October 15, 2024, the LACoFD pays tribute to the history, vibrant cultures, rich traditions, and exceptional contributions of the Hispanic community this month and every other.
On Saturday, September 14, the LACoFD Los Bomberos de L.A. County kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month by participating in the Latino College Expo at the University of La Verne. The Los Bomberos de L.A. County provided mentorship opportunities, career-pathway information, and safety tips to over 8,000 students, parents, administrators, and community partners.
A week later, September 21, the LACoFD Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Lifeguard Division, and Executive Support Division Communications Section joined the City of Inglewood’s Hispanic Heritage Festival. LACoFD team members presented career and safety information, and K-9 Gordon joined in the fun, showing off his search and rescue skills. This annual event featured recruitment and community-partner booths, activities for families, music, food, and much more.
The LACoFD is pleased to celebrate this year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month and looks forward to future opportunities in the years to come!
