Kenia Sanchez Calderon, Santiago Murillo, and Huntington Park Police Officer Jacob Salmon each played a significant role in assisting to help save the lives of LACoFD team members during a fire at Fire Station (FS) 164 in Huntington Park in the early morning of May 1.

Deputy Fire Chief Albert Yanagisawa, Acting Assistant Fire Chief Travon Espy, Community Services Liaisons Eugenia Chan and Rosemary Vivero, along with personnel from FS 164 presented Ms. Sanchez Calderon an official LACoFD Certificate of Appreciation signed by County of Los Angeles Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone. Mr. Murillo and Officer Salmon were unable attend the City Council meeting.

The LACoFD is extremely grateful to these devoted community members; especially Ms. Sanchez Calderon who was one of the first to arrive on scene and alert FS 164 of the fire.

These exemplary acts of courage and kindness are the true embodiment of the LACoFD’s core values.
