On Friday, December 13, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) celebrated its 100th anniversary with a spectacular Centennial Gala held at The Commons located on the Universal Studios Backlot in Universal City.

This celebration marked a significant milestone in the LACoFD’s distinguished history, acknowledging a century of unwavering dedication, exceptional bravery, and community service.  Attended by over 230 distinguished guests, the Centennial Gala paid tribute to retired Fire Captain and Department Historian Dave Boucher, and the Los Angeles County Fire Museum, recognizing their invaluable contributions in preserving the legacy and storied history of the Department and its members.

With the generous support of platinum sponsors, the F&A Federal Credit Union and Edison International, this event brought together Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Third District Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn, retired Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman, generous sponsors, current and retired firefighters and professional staff, community members, and special guests for a memorable night and celebration. The event, emceed by retired Assistant Fire Chief Steve Martin featured fellowship, networking, and a delicious meal. The elegant ballroom served as the perfect backdrop for this historic occasion, where guests were treated to a captivating program highlighting the Department’s rich history, including the premier of the LACoFD Centennial Video.

LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony Marrone shared heartwarming remarks from retired Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby and delivered a keynote address reflecting on the Department’s legacy and honoring the countless firefighters who have served with honor, bravery, and professionalism over the past century.  Chief Marrone emphasized the Department’s commitment to innovation, community engagement, and continued excellence in service while underscoring a progressive vision for the future. “As we reflect on our past, we also look forward to the future with hope and determination,” said Chief Marrone, “Together, we will face new challenges and seize new opportunities to continue our stride in providing the highest level of service to the residents of Los Angeles County and beyond.”

The LACoFD Centennial Gala was more than just a celebration of the past – it was a testament to the spirit and resilience of the Department that not only honored our legacy, but also inspired a renewed dedication to the mission of protecting and serving residents and communities into the future and beyond.  To access the Gala program, please click here.
