The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) has been collecting and distributing toys across the County of Los Angeles for ABC7’s annual holiday campaign, Spark of Love. Recently, these dedicated individuals participated in two events to bring holiday joy to children and teens.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, the LACoFD Public Affairs Section joined ABC7 to bring toys to pediatric patients at City of Hope Children’s Cancer Center in the City of Duarte in partnership with the Adan Strong Foundation. This foundation began in memory of Adan Muñoz who was a patient at City of Hope. He enjoyed bringing toys to his fellow pediatric patients.
Later that week, the LACoFD partnered with ABC7, and the City of Cerritos for the annual Stuff-a-Bus event at the Los Cerritos Center on December 15. Department personnel from Fire Station 103, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Lifeguard Division, and many volunteers, including the LACoFD Explorers, attended to help stuff 20 public-transit buses with toys and sports equipment.
As event goers dropped of their donations, they had the opportunity to learn Hands-Only CPR, home safety tips and the various career pathways available within the LACoFD.
This year marks the 31st anniversary of this wonderful-holiday campaign.
The Department takes pride in its commitment to the mission of the Spark of Love campaign and contribution to the happiness of the families throughout the County of Los Angeles.
