In partnership with ABC7’s annual holiday campaign, Spark of Love, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) has been collecting and distributing toys across Los Angeles County to bring holiday joy to children and teens. Over the past three decades, the Spark of Love Toy Drive has successfully collected and distributed more than ten million toys.
The Spark of Love campaign officially kicked off on Monday, November 11, with fire stations collecting new toys and sports equipment. As part of this year’s Spark of Love campaign, the Department participated in several events.
On Friday, December 6, 2024, the LACoFD partnered with ABC7 and the City of Cerritos for the annual Stuff-A-Bus event at the Los Cerritos Center. Department personnel from the Executive Support Division, local fire stations, the Lifeguard Division, and the Explorer Program helped to collect and stuff numerous public-transit buses with toys and sports equipment. That same day, the Department also partnered with Citrus College and Sierra Honda of Monrovia to collect toy donations at Citrus College in the City of Glendora.
A week later, on Saturday, December 14, the Department put smiles on many young faces in partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services at the annual Foster Family Children’s Holiday Party at Six Flags Magic Mountain hosted by Los Angeles County Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger. Families enjoyed lunch, crafts, holiday photos, and chose their favorite gift to take home in celebration of the season.
The final event of this campaign will be ABC7’s Spark of Love event being held at SoFi Stadium in the City of Inglewood on Friday, December 20, 2024. Each year, the Los Angeles Rams welcome hundreds of children for a tour of SoFi stadium, to play football with professional players, and choose their favorite toy or sports equipment at the end of the event.
