After a multi-year hiatus, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) hosted the annual Fire Explorer Program Muster on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Cecil R. Gehr Training Center at Department Headquarters in unincorporated East Los Angeles.
More than 70 Explorers participated in the one-day event, competing in teams based on their assigned post locations throughout Los Angeles County. Teams faced off in several timed events – Make and Break, Bucket Brigade, Line Above Ground, and Motorized Hose Lay – to complete each evolution as quickly as possible.
In the end, Post 150 from Santa Clarita won this year’s Explorer Muster Trophy. The post will have the opportunity to defend their title at next year’s Muster.
This one-day Muster is designed to test and develop the skills of youth interested in firefighting. It includes a variety of fire service exercises that promote teamwork, discipline, and a foundation in firefighting fundamentals.
Through mentorship and guidance from professional firefighters, the LACoFD Explorer Program introduces youth and young adults to the fire service, emphasizing community engagement, training, education, and career development.
