The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) honored over 200 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2025 and previous years at the NFFF Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, 2026.

This year, three County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) fallen members were recognized during the memorial weekend – Fire Captain David Gonzalez, Fire Fighter Specialist William “Bill” Lenzen, and Fire Fighter Dustin Roberto.

LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone attended this year’s memorial events, joined by Executive Team members, family and friends of those fallen, Department Chaplains, the Honor Guard, and Pipes and Drums.

On Saturday, a solemn candlelight service was held to honor the fallen and show support for colleagues, friends, families, and loved ones. As part of the memorial service held on Sunday, each family received an American flag that was previously flown over the NFFF Memorial and the U.S. Capitol as a symbol of gratitude for their loved ones’ service.

The LACoFD extends gratitude to those who attended and pays tribute to the legacy of our own heroes we have lost, as well as those from across the country. We encourage everyone to keep the families and friends of the fallen in your thoughts and prayers.
