Board of Supervisors Recognizes LACoFD for Receiving NACo Award WPPRO Administrator

Recently, the National Association of Counties (NACo) presented 22 County departments with 2019 Achievement Awards in a variety of categories. At the weekly Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn recognized award winners, including the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), during scroll presentations.

LACoFD was awarded this distinguished achievement, in the category of Risk and Emergency Management, for creating the nation’s first fire department-based pharmacy. The Department reinvented its entire drug procurement, inventory and distribution process, making it the first fire department to be state- and federally-licensed to distribute and manage emergency medications, using an Automated Drug Dispensing System known as Pyxis.

“I really want to underscore how proud we are of each department who won awards. The County of Los Angeles truly is the greatest in the country… Your innovation, hard work and commitment to our constituents continue to place the County on the leading edge of public service. Congratulations to each and every one of you!” said Supervisor Hahn as she presented the scrolls.

The Department is proud to receive this acknowledgment and congratulates the other County department winners.
