On Friday, October 4, 2019, Sherry Holcomb and her family reunited with Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) firefighters from Station 21 in Lawndale to express their sincere gratitude for saving her life.

Holcomb suffered cardiac arrest in May 2019. When her father found her slumped over, he immediately dialed 9-1-1 and began CPR. Quint 161 and Squad 21 arrived on scene, took over CPR and delivered two shocks with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Within minutes, Holcomb was revived and transported to a local area hospital for further care.

The reunion with firefighters meant a lot for the family. “We had so many unanswered questions and needed to express our gratitude,” said Holcomb’s mother, Lora. “Seeing her heroes today was exactly the motivation Sherry needed to continue to work hard at physical therapy. There was so much love and compassion.  We are forever grateful.”

The Holcomb family personally thanked Fire Captain Ramon Valdoria, Fire Fighter Specialist David Moody, Fire Fighter Paramedic Matthew Hoyt, Fire Fighter Paramedic Ryan Lowrie, Fire Fighter Kevin Jimenez, and Fire Fighter Giovani Lopez.
