This year, Sheryl Gradney, RN, BSN, MICN, has been selected as the Department’s Nurse of the Year. Sheryl has been a nurse for over 20 years and has been with Los Angeles County since 2018, when she joined the Department. Currently a Senior Nursing Instructor, Sheryl continues to serve as a Department leader, patient care advocate, and pivotal partner in improving prehospital emergency care. Sheryl will receive a formal proclamation during a Nurse of the Year Ceremony on May 12, 2025.

The LACoFD is incredibly fortunate to have a team of highly skilled and committed nurses who go above and beyond in providing continuing education, preventative health care, and quality improvement initiatives. Their efforts are essential in strengthening our healthcare systems and ensuring the wellbeing of our residents.

Let us come together to show our appreciation for their hard work, compassion, and professionalism. Please join in celebrating Nurse Recognition Week and expressing gratitude to the nurses who serve the Los Angeles County with excellence and dedication.
