County of Los Angeles Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone was joined by Los Angeles County Firefighters’ Memorial Committee Chair Brian Martin, along with Department Chaplains, the Honor Guard, and Pipes and Drums at the 44th Annual National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Held on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2025, this annual event honors firefighters nationwide who died in the line of duty.

On Saturday, a solemn candlelight service was held, featuring musical performances and speeches, to honor the fallen and show support for colleagues, friends, families, and loved ones. As part of the memorial service held on Sunday, each family received an American flag that was previously flown over the NFFF Memorial and the U.S. Capitol as a symbol of gratitude for their loved ones’ positive impact and service.

This year, 140 fire service members were added to the 2025 Roll of Honor, including two LACoFD fallen members – Fire Fighter Andrew Pontious and Fire Fighter Specialist Ulysses Duran.

The LACoFD wishes to pay tribute to our own heroes as well as those from across the country. We encourage everyone to keep the families of the fallen in your thoughts and prayers.
