The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) recently hosted Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training classes in the cities of Hawthorne and La Mirada, along with a fire extinguisher hands-on demonstration in the City of La Habra.

Held in the cities of Hawthorne and La Mirada, more than 50 individuals comprised of residents and high school students successfully completed the 20-hour Federal Emergency Management Agency CERT training class to become equipped with the necessary skills and resources to support themselves, along with their families and neighbors in the event of a disaster.  Participants who successfully completed the CERT class were presented with certificates of completion for their achievement.

LACoFD CERT instructors also joined the City of La Habra to provide a fire extinguisher demonstration, cribbing exercise, and shared additional emergency preparedness safety tips with more than a dozen community members.

The LACoFD extends its gratitude to the partnering cities and communities, CERT Cadre, instructors, and administrative team, for enhancing community preparedness and resiliency efforts across Los Angeles County.
