The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) would like to congratulate 91 Explorers and 36 residents who recently completed the 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training classes held during the month of January 2026, in East Los Angeles and Santa Clarita.

As part of the training, LACoFD CERT instructors ensured participants acquired important skills in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, light search and rescue operations, disaster psychology, team organization, triage, and more. Following the disaster exercise, requiring participants to successfully put their newly acquired skills to the test, each was awarded a certificate of completion.

The LACoFD applauds our CERT graduates as they step up to assist their fellow neighbors and colleagues in the event of a disaster.

Open to everyone 16 years of age or older, the LACoFD encourages all residents to sign-up for an upcoming CERT training class by clicking here.
