On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department Command and Control 9-1-1 Communications Center had the honor of welcoming a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputy, who wanted to visit with and thank the 9-1-1 dispatcher for their role in saving his infant’s life.

In February 2026, Fire Dispatcher David Stark received an urgent 9-1-1 call from LASD Deputy Perez, whose four-day-old baby was experiencing cardiac arrest. Dispatcher Stark provided calm and professional guidance, instructing Deputy Perez on how to perform CPR on the infant.

Thanks to the successful administration of lifesaving compressions, Deputy Perez was able to save his child, who is now healthy and thriving.

During his visit to the 9-1-1 Communications Center, Deputy Perez personally thanked Dispatcher Stark and acknowledged the critical lifesaving phone call.

The LACoFD takes pride in Dispatcher Stark’s professionalism and extends heartfelt appreciation for his outstanding efforts in saving a life.
