The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) participated in a joint emergency public communications exercise with the County of Los Angeles Chief Executive Office, Office of Emergency Management, and Office of Countywide Communications on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Los Angeles County Emergency Operations Center.
This hands-on session provided public information and communications staff the opportunity to practice messaging coordination, information management, and cross-department collaboration in a simulated Joint Information Center activation.
Personnel from Communications Division joined colleagues from fellow County departments for this important exercise. These public-facing professionals worked together in an escalating scenario that began with one wildfire, than quickly escalating to a second wildfire, followed by an earthquake impacting several regions across Los Angeles County.
Joint training exercises like these are used to enhance multi-department response capabilities by improving interoperability and joint response effectiveness, building trust and practical coordination between agencies, and sharpening skills for real incidents across Los Angeles County.
The LACoFD extends our gratitude to our partners for this training opportunity. Together we remain committed to protecting and serving our residents and communities.
