This year, the ever-popular Explorer Program returned after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Seventy-five Explorers successfully completed several weeks of online meetings, culminating in an in-person orientation and training on the weekend of August 13 and 14, 2022.

During the in-person, two-day orientation at Department headquarters, participants donned their Explorer Program gear and had a chance to learn directly about the fire service from current Los Angeles County firefighters.

On the second day of the event, the Explorers were later recognized for their hard work and received certificates of completion in front of their families and loved ones during a special ceremony.

The Explorers will now meet with their peers at their assigned Division posts and will need to complete a book of tasks and assignments to become a fully Certified Explorer.
