On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, a flag ceremony was held at Fire Station 3 to honor the life and service of retired Los Angeles County Fire Captain Thomas “Robbie” Robertson who recently passed away at the age of 80 in November.

“On November 7, 1967, Robbie joined the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD).  It was there where he and I met and began a close friendship that would last 52 years,” said close friend and retired LACoFD Battalion Chief Vic Ramirez at the flag ceremony.  “We had a special friendship and were blessed to be called L.A. County firefighters.”

Captain Robertson retired in 1995 after 28 years of dedicated service.  His last assignment was at Fire Station 29 but he spent majority of his career at Fire Station 3.  He served as a training captain for 20 recruit classes, inspiring and influencing the careers of as many as 800 firefighters.

“Robbie was highly respected and loved by the people he touched on this job,” said Chief Ramirez.  “His quiet, humble, no nonsense approach to doing our job made him a great role model.”

Captain Robertson is survived by his wife Jeanne, son Tom and daughter Robin.
