On Monday, November 18, 2024, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone attended a graduation ceremony to recognize the first cohort of the Justice, Care, and Opportunities Department’s (JCOD) Los Angeles County Training Center (LACTC) Fire Camp.

Los Angeles County Third District Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, retired JCOD Director Judge Songhai Armstead, leaders from the Anti-Recidivism Coalition and community partners also attended this ceremonial recognition at the Malibu County Library.

Ten graduates proudly completed this innovative program that trains individuals in fire services and job readiness. The program also provided on-site living accommodations, life-skill trainings, a monthly stipend, and continuous support services for each participant.

LACTC is a residential job-training program located in the City of Calabasas. This voluntary program is 12-months long and free of charge to all participants.

Interested participants must be 18 years or older to apply to the JCOD LACTC Fire Camp.
