On Friday, August 15, 2025, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) announced the active-duty death of Fire Fighter Paramedic (FFPM) Jerry W. Guzman, Fire Station 32-C, Battalion 16.

On Friday, August 15, 2025, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) announced the active-duty death of Fire Fighter Paramedic (FFPM) Jerry W. Guzman, Fire Station 32-C, Battalion 16.

Having served the Department for over 23 years, FFPM Guzman was a valued team member who dedicated his life to protecting and serving the residents and communities of Los Angeles County. He was 58 years of age, and his last assignment was Fire Station 32 in the City of Azusa in the San Gabriel Valley.

“The County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, together with President Dave Gillotte of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1014, and I pass along our deepest condolences and sympathies to the Guzman family during this extraordinarily difficult time,” said Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone.

To ensure the proper care and support of the family, colleagues, and friends of FFPM Guzman, the LACoFD chaplains, peer support team, behavioral health clinicians, and Memorial Management team have been activated.

A flag ceremony and memorial service to commemorate the life of FFPM Guzman will be held on Wednesday, September 3, and Thursday, September 4, 2025, respectively. The LACoFD extends our heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out and continues to keep the Guzman family in our thoughts and prayers. He will never be forgotten.
