Held at the LACoFD Headquarter’s Training Center, speakers underscored the importance of fireworks safety, shared how dangerous illegal and Safe and Sane fireworks are, and encouraged community members to attend professional fireworks and drone displays across Los Angeles County this upcoming Fourth of July holiday.  Speakers included Supervisor Solis, LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone, LAFD Fire Chief Jaime E. Moore, California State Fire Marshal Daniel Berlant with CAL FIRE, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert G. Luna, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell, UCLA Health Regional Burn Center Medical Director Andrew Vardanian, MD., and Public Health Regional Health Officer Jose Escobar.

At the conclusion of the press conference, a pyrotechnic expert demonstrated how illegal fireworks can potentially burn users and spark dangerous fires, especially in areas vulnerable to wildfires.

The LACoFD reminds the unincorporated communities it serves that it is illegal to store, manufacture, sell, use, or handle all forms of fireworks, including Safe and Sane fireworks.
