On Saturday, April 12, 2025, over 100 County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Explorers participated in the annual Explorer Program Disaster Drill.

Explorers arrived early Saturday morning for an unforgettable day. The Disaster Drill, held at the Del Valle Regional Training Center in Castaic, simulated various scenarios to train Explorers and introduce them to the firefighter career pathway. Explorers received training on hose advancement, pallet fire extinguishing, vehicle extrication, wildland firefighting, and invaluable experience in Air Operations, hazardous materials, and urban search and rescue equipment.

“Explorers, I applaud you for taking the initiative and the time to attend the Explorer Disaster Drill – your commitment demonstrates your intention and dedication to the Department” said LACoFD Deputy Fire Chief Robert Harris as he greeted participants. “This is more than a learning experience. It is about building your confidence, resilience, and most importantly, your ability to work as a team.”

The LACoFD is proud to have dedicated team members who go above and beyond to inspire, mentor, and train Department youth.
