The City of Bellflower honored six County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) firefighters at the 29th annual BRAVO Awards ceremony on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Held at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum and The Mayne Events Center in the City of Bellflower, this annual ceremony recognizes first responders and Good Samaritans for acts of valor and outstanding service.
Members of the Bellflower City Council honored LACoFD Fire Captain Michael Delelio, Fire Fighter Specialist Justin Neese, and Fire Fighters Greg Bryant, Chris Warren, Matthew Powers, and Wolhan Sosa for a life-saving emergency medical services incident that occurred in 2024.
At 11:30 p.m. on September 5, 2024, LACoFD Engine 23 and Squad 98 responded to a call of an unresponsive patient. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly assessed the patient, took over chest compressions from family members, and initiated advanced cardiac arrest protocols. Firefighters determined the patient met the criteria for the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation technique. The patient was transported to a local area hospital, where they recovered from the incident.
East Regional Operations Bureau Deputy Fire Chief Eleni Pappas was honored to attend the event and shared, “It is a privilege to personally recognize and express our gratitude to the remarkable honorees for their work ethic, bravery, and commitment in going above and beyond to help others and keep the City of Bellflower safe.”
The LACoFD commends Engine 23 and Squad 98 firefighters for setting the gold standard of care and upholding the Department’s mission to protect lives, the environment, and property by providing prompt and skillful life safety services.
The LACoFD commends and congratulates all honorees for their remarkable service, tremendous acts of heroism, and dedicated service.
