The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) proudly recognized “National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week” from April 13 to April 19, 2025, to celebrate the dedication and service of Command and Control Division (CCD) dispatchers.
This observance, held annually during the second week of April, highlights the vital work of our CCD dispatchers and professionals who staff the Department’s 9-1-1 Dispatch Center that operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
Our CCD dispatchers are a diverse team whose work is crucial for the Department’s daily emergency operations. This valued team serves as the essential bridge between those requiring emergency services and our first responders.
Working in one of the nation’s busiest dispatch centers, the CCD team continuously navigates high-pressure situations, providing lifesaving instructions and performing seamlessly in stressful circumstances. During the 2024 calendar year, the CCD dispatch center team received an impressive total of 633,078 inbound 9-1-1 phone calls, and dispatched personnel to 463,866 incidents.
Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone was joined by Los Angeles County Third District Supervisor Lindsey Horvath to visit the P. Michael Freeman Command and Control Facility at Department headquarters. Supervisor Horvath met with dispatchers, toured the facility, and thanked LACoFD dispatchers for the work they do, especially during situations like the recent January wildfires.
The LACoFD expresses its deepest gratitude to our dispatchers for their commitment to helping those in distress and reassuring them that help is on the way when it matters the most. Our dispatchers are the first, first responders, and the LACoFD is grateful to have a hard-working and dedicated team to answer the initial call for help.
