The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Training Services Division hosted the U.S. Fire Administration’s (USFA) Type 3 All-Hazard Incident Management Team (AHIMT) Course O-305 at Fire Camp 2 in La Cañada Flintridge.

The five-day course began on June 17, 2019 and provided a basic framework for building and maintaining critical interpersonal communications and working together as part of a USFA Type 3 AHIMT.

After days of simulations and exercises, participants concluded the course by applying their knowledge and experience into a mock incident.

“This course has given me a better understanding and insight into how an incident may develop,” said LACoFD Captain Louis Gaytan. “I also learned things to consider from the perspective of an initial incident commander.”

The course’s 32 participants also included team members from Homeland Security, the Forestry, Lifeguard and Information Management Divisions as well as representatives from the Angeles National Forest, Long Beach and Monrovia Fire Departments.
