On Monday, December 15, 2023, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) participated in the unveiling of a new heli-hydrant held in the City of La Habra Heights.

LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone joined Fourth District County Supervisor Janice Hahn, City of La Habra Heights officials, the La Habra Heights County Water District, and other partners in welcoming this new resource for use by the City of Labra Heights, the LACoFD, and various fire agencies in the region.

This new heli-hydrant supports LACoFD’s ability to combat wildland fires by offering an on-demand water supply during critical times, provides a pilot-operated water source to reduce turnaround times for water drops in remote areas, and equips firefighting helicopters with an added means to assist ground fire crews and enhance their ability in extinguishing fires timely and swiftly.

The LACoFD finds the installation of this heli-hydrant to be a game-changer to safeguard residents and communities and advances our planning and preparation to stay ready for the next wildfire or emergency.
