LACoFD Lifeguard Receives Navy Club’s Military Excellence Award 150 150 Adam Carrillo

On January 24, 2020, Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Ocean Lifeguard Rafael Ribiero Gonclaves was awarded the Navy Club of the United States’ Military Excellence Award (MEA) for being the top graduate in his recruit training group.

According to the Navy, the MEA is given to the recruit that best exemplifies the qualities of enthusiasm, devotion to duty, military bearing and teamwork.

Ribiero Gonclaves will complete 10 weeks of training at Great Lakes Naval Station before receiving his first duty station.  He plans to continue his work as a recurrent lifeguard with the Department.
