The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Lifeguard Division presented at the Aerospace Valley Career Fair which was held at the Air Force Plant Hangar 42 in Palmdale on Friday, March 10, 2023.

The Lifeguard Division brought Lifeguard Rescue Units (LRU) Recruit 1 and Sonar 1, complete with Marine Technical Search Team (MTST) equipment and ambitions to recruit potential lifeguard candidates in the County’s Fifth District.

LACoFD lifeguards displayed the Sonar E.M.I.L.Y. Rescue Robot, the VideoRay Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), the AquaEye Handheld Sonar Device, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, and Basic Life Support (BLS) equipment to 2500 attendees who may be interested in a profession involving technology and first response.

Career fair participants were enthusiastic to learn how LACoFD lifeguards implement each tool throughout the stages of marine search and rescue operations.

Lifeguards further educated attendees about career options within the Department and how they can apply soon to become a lifeguard.
