LACoFD Participates in the Second Annual Sky Tower Challenge 150 150 Amelia Garcia

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) competed in the second annual Sky Tower Challenge held at Six Flags Magic Mountain in the City of Valencia.  LACoFD firefighters joined racers from the City of Santa Clarita, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, California Highway Patrol, and Santa Clarita Loan Depot in the Sky Tower Challenge at the Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park.

The challenge is a friendly competition to build morale and camaraderie and find out who can reach the highest point of the Sky Tower with the fastest time.  One by one, racers were sent after the other up a set of narrow stairs climbing 385 feet to the top.

This year, LACoFD Fire Fighter Justin Skinner of Fire Station 150 took first place as the fastest male competitor, completing the race in 1 minute and 52 seconds, setting a new record.  Fire Fighter Justice Bennett of Fire Station 126 took first place as the fastest female competitor, completing the race in 3 minutes and 27 seconds.

The LACoFD extends its heartfelt gratitude to Magic Mountain along with all the racers who participated in this year’s challenge.  Events like this emphasize teamwork and strengthen connections with our fellow first responder and community partners.
